This is the cunning of Amber style movers and shakers meets Victorian Steampunk!
Heroes from the Dark Age, tattooed by the Druids so that their souls will return through time to fight for their Gods and Goddesses are reborn in the Age of Victoria. But something has changed from the history as we know it. Some twenty years ago a new wonderful technology called Aether was discovered that enabled steam engines to run further and faster by helping to re-cool the steam and recycling the water. Steam engines no longer needed to stop many times on a journey and could keep going all the way from London to Scotland on a single tank.
The various betrayals from the Dark Age have permeated through time though, and the Heroes of the past whilst powerful once Awakened to their full potential, have caused many conflicts, betrayals and rebellions through time.
You are all Heroes from the Dark Ages not yet awakened to your full potential or aware of your past mistakes and schemes. For now you belong to the Society of the Betterment of Humanity, which given your past deeds would make your Awakened self laugh. You are unaware that many other Heroes you have known from the past are also in the Society.
